Dear clients/friends,
It is tough for me to just write "clients". So many of you
have become my friends as well. I really value the relationship
that we have developed. Unfortunately, like all good things, this
too must come to an end.
I would have liked to have told each of you the following bit
of info individually but for many reasons I could not.
My husband, Stuart, has taken a job at Kennesaw State
University, outside Atlanta. And therefore...we will be moving
down this summer. Stuart will move down next month and I will
follow in early September.
The plan for my work is this: Except for Ardmore Animal
Hospital which just ended at the end of May; I will continue to
work the regular schedule at my clinics through August 14th. I
will then be taking a short week off before leaving for Prague to
compete in the Dragon Boat World Championships for Team USA. I
will then return once monthly to work two days (Thursday and
Friday) at Hickory Veterinary Hospital in Plymouth Meeting
www.hickoryvet.com/. As some of you know, Melody Broadbent,
the rehab trained veterinary assistant has been seeing patients
there for rehab sessions for several months. This has been in
preparation for the opening of a rehab center at Hickory
Veterinary Hospital. However, because I am leaving, they will
need to find another rehab vet to oversee the program. The person
they have chosen, Dr. Perone, will be trained in both rehab and
acupuncture. By returning once a month for 6 months I will be
able to help them transition over. On those trips back, I will
likely also go to an agility trial and/or see patients at one of
the local agility training facilities. Watch my calendar for
exact dates and locations.
www.evelynvet.com As it stands right now the first return in
September will be 9/24-27.
Dogma in Wayne, the other main location where I have seen
many clients will still be open. Jen Magee, Certified Canine
Rehab Practitioner, will continue to see patients for rehab
sessions, underwater treadmill therapy and massage. She continues
to be available for appointments on Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays. Please call Dogma to schedule with her. 610-341-3647 or
see their website for more info.

Unfortunately, I do not have any one person I can send all of
you to. This is partially due to the fact that y'all (practicing
my Southern) live from Wilmington, DE to Long Island, NY. Few
practitioners travel the way I do. Also, there are not many
people around who are trained in all three disciplines:
chiropractic, acupuncture and physical rehabilitation. Some of
you will need a person skilled in rehab and soft tissue
modalities. Some of you will need an acupuncturist, some a
veterinary chiropractor.
The easiest thing to do is to look at some of the websites
available that have lists of practitioners in your area. For
acupuncture aside from Plymouth Meeting (Hickory Vet), there is
the AAVA, American Association of Veterinary Acupuncture,
http://www.aava.org/php/aava_blog/aava-directory/ as well as
IVAS, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society,
http://www.ivas.org/Members/VetSearch/tabid/124/Default.aspx
. For chiropractic, there is the AVCA, American Veterinary
Chiropractic Association,
http://www.avcadoctors.com/search_for_avca_certified_doctor.htm
. For rehab (which often includes one or both of the other
modalities)
http://www.veterinaryrehabreferral.com/ or
http://rehabvets.org/ or
http://www.caninerehabinstitute.com/Find_A_Therapist.html.
The few names I will give out are Dr. Judith Shoemaker and her
associate, Dr. Shauna Cantwell. They are out in Nottingham, PA
and are skilled in chiro, acupuncture, herbs and homeopathy. http://www.judithshoemaker.com/staff.html
There are Ria and David Aciani. They are both PT's who are
trained in canine physical rehab. I believe they specialize in
sport dogs but they also see some pet dogs. Their contact info is
on their website.
www.dogpt.com They are located in central NJ. In West
Chester, PA, Dr. Anne Caulfield has a rehab center inside the West
Chester Veterinary Center. She is trained in acupuncture and
rehab and has a pool and under water treadmill.
http://www.westchestervetmedcenter.com/ Dr. Steven
Fries in Philadelphia is a DC (doctor of chiropractic) who works on
dogs 215-629-8311. Of course, as I said, Hickory
Veterinary Hospital in Plymouth meeting is under way with its rehab
facility and will be transitioning into a new rehab vet as I
transition out. What may work best for most of you is to ask
around. Ask your friends and your vets. Find out who is out
there and what is available. Keeping your animals active, in
good weight, adjusted and balanced are the keys to a long and
healthy life.
I know you will all find someone that will work for you.
For now, I am still available for appointments through mid-August
and will be returning monthly through February after that. Check
my website for updates and info.
